Wealth Principles of the “Successfully Abundant”
Article by Coach Alchemist Anne Merkel, Ph.D.
The most “successfully abundant” people that I know reflect several attributes that I try to emulate in my own life. By “successfully abundant” I mean those who are in balance with their wealth in a way that supports Law of Attraction. These are people who take Spirit into their business ventures, treat others according to the Golden Rule, serve as they earn, invest in earth-friendly and socially conscious products and services, can manage the abundance in a balanced way of giving and receiving, and who recognize the “oneness” in all of humanity, rich or poor.
First of all they appreciate the abundance around them... whether they own it or just can enjoy its beauty is immaterial; they notice, appreciate, honor, show appreciation. In doing this it seems that abundance is magnetized to approach their lives. As more abundance comes to them the more appreciative they are. These people take nothing for granted. They recognize the blessings and gifts even if their own hard work and business acumen or skills actually “earned” the money or supported their wealth and abundance. They realize that wealth is an attitude and the bank balance need not be involved.
Another attribute I’ve noticed and try to practice is the way “successfully abundant” people shop or spend their money. These people do not use their money to control or “buy the love” of others, nor do they use it as a showy extension of their egos. They are in balance with the flow of energy through them, so they are neither blocking the flow by hoarding nor are they letting the abundance spill out in an unconscious way by binge spending on any whim or new toy that shows up. As they approach a purchase they are aware of:
- how much they want to spend
- how much value is in what they wish to purchase
- how it will nurture them
- how it can be used to serve others
- how it impacts the planet and society
These people will shop around until they find products and services that really reflect who they are and the vibration that they want to project into the universe. They condition themselves to be aware of when they are in imbalance and when ego is driving them to buy something just to impress or persuade someone of something, and they can catch themselves, identify their imbalance, and then make clear conscious decisions. Price really doesn’t matter as long as these people know the reasons for their purchase and feel aligned and in balance with it. They are also wise enough to utilize discounts when they are available, knowing that the money they save can be shared with someone else who needs it. One of my wealthiest friends enjoys bargain hunting because when she saves money she gets much joy from deciding how to spend the money she has just saved to help some other person or project. This is one way that she tithes.
This brings up the topic of balanced giving and receiving. When the flow is unblocked the Universe can send more abundance through somebody or something. This is the premise behind the age-old proven practice of acupuncture. Feng Shui, which has taken the country by storm, is also based on unblocked energy flow. The “successfully abundant” who I have studied know how to keep the flow open. Gratitude is the state of mind that sets the stage. Giving is an action step that can trigger the reciprocal action of receiving. When one creates a vacuum, then something else rushes in to replace that which has vacated the space. Since money, actions, love are all energies, by giving, one can set up the energetics to start to receive back.
Tithing is based on the law of giving and receiving. By giving energy to the kinds of organizations and institutions that they respect, the “successfully abundant” then support the frequencies that they wish to have perpetuated on the planet, and work hand-in-hand with the Law of Attraction.
One other characteristic of the “successfully abundant” that I enjoy emulating is the ease with which they exist in the world. They may be at one end of the wealth scale, but to an outsider they appear to just fit in to somewhere in the middle. They have nice homes, cars, toys, yet their demeanor is one of normalcy and they do not put on airs about the wealth. They live in the “oneness” and all others feel comfortable in approaching them. They naturally fit into any crowd and their presence makes others feel comfortable. When there is a specific financial need by another that they feel drawn to support they offer help in a sensitive and genuine way with a “care first” attitude, or one of “let us take care of putting out this fire first or getting this project going first, then we will focus on the pay-back.” There is generosity, empathy, and interest involved rather than control and greed.
People who fall into the category that I have described here are modeling conscious living and balanced wealth to the rest of us. We can all learn from their good examples.
